CRM With Project Management Software

Sonja Headshot
By Sonja Fridell

We’re starting off our “CRM with” blog series by detailing CRM with Project Management software capabilities. We’ll start by spotlighting three CRM platforms with built-in project management software, and then put the spotlight on three awesome add-on tools for project management, as well as which CRM platforms those add-ons work best with.

CRM Platforms with Built-in Project Management –

1. SugarCRM –

Sugar comes out of the box with a powerful Projects module capable of keeping track of heavy duty projects. You can ad tasks and assign them to team members, add additional members of your team as resources to projects, review activity history and view complete Gantt charts (charts the mark the start, finish and key points of projects). As with every module in Sugar, the Projects module can be customized to meet your needs.

2. Salesforce –

Salesforce is not quite as good as Sugar at out-of-the-box project management, but it makes up for it with an extremely large project management add-on ecosystem. Over 50 project management tools integrate to Salesforce, and you are sure to find one you like. We detail a few of our favorite PM add-ons below.

3. Infor CRM –

Infor CRM (formerly SalesLogix) is a great project management tool for mobile sales teams and “hands-on” salespeople (those at job sites). There is no Gantt charts, but the there is very nicely laid out tasks that move along the sales process in sequential order. For true project management, you’ll need an add-on product, but Infor fills a nice niche in the way it handles PM.

Add-On tools for project management and which CRM platforms they work best with –

1. Teamwork –

Teamwork can integrate HubSpot and Salesforce through Zapier (a third-party integration company), but they don’t carry any native CRM integrations. Teamwork integrates with Zendesk, but it is more of a customer service and ticketing integration.

2. JIRA –

The latest version of JIRA works with MSCRM, Salesforce and SugarCRM right out of the box. JIRA provides leading issue tracking software for any size scrum. JIRA is used by companies like NASA, Orbitz, HubSpot and Vistaprint.

3. Basecamp –

Basecamp is great for managing tasks and projects and is perfect for development or agency-type work. Like Teamwork, Basecamp can be integrated to CRM platforms using Zapier, but really it is a standalone project management tool.
